Art Trade: Schylien

DID...did...Did... I like...TOTALLY....TOTALLY JUST FINISH AN ART TRADE???

OMG SHE TOTALLY DID FINISH AN ART TRADE! , the crowd says excitedly. After a million years she finished an art trade!

*confetti flies everywhere, dancing all around*

Yes, my friends, after a few thousand years, I finally finished an art trade. However, because it took me said few thousand years, it still means that I totally and completely FAIL.



(BTW, as a side note for anyone else waiting for their half of a trade, don't worry, its on it's way! )

Anyway. I've just been getting through all the trades that I owe people (as you can tell, I've been doing this very, very, very quickly. *leaking with sarcasm* ) and one trade was with the SUPER FANTASTIC TOTALLY AWESOME OMG SERIOUSLY HAVE YOU SEEN HER GALLERY GO SEE HER GALLERY OR ELSE A THOUSAND ZOMBIE KITTEHS WILL ATTACK YOU WITH THIER BIG EYES AND THIER PAWS OF FUZZY CUTENESS . She finished her half of the trade, like, you know, a few more thousand years before I did. Because I'm super quick like that. HURRR.

Anyway, for her half of the trade she did a NNNYEEEEEE ZOMG ZOMG ZOMG ZOMZGOA;SDKLJKL;S;JKL FOR SERIOUSLY FOR SERIOUSLY GO LOOKIT IT BEFORE I EXPLODE ALL OVER THE PLACE AND THEN YOU HAVE TO CLEAN UP JESS MESS ALL OVER THE PLACE OMG I TOOK THAT REALLY WRONG BUT YEEEE HEE HEE HEE HEE ZOMG ZOMG ZOMG ZOMG ZOMG ZOMG YEE HEE HEEEEE YAYYYYYY GO LOOKIT IT NOW NOW NOWWWWW!!! picture of Mercy for me! So, for my half, she asked me to draw her Undead character, Schylien, which I was more then happy to accept! I'm not a World of Warcraft fan, but I've always thought the races were pretty cool, so drawing this character was not only fun, but it was a bit of a challenge because I got to draw something new and different.

(Instead of, you know, my characters standing around staring at nothing and smiling with some kinda blob of colour in the background.)

She was just a blast to draw! So, here she is, Schylien, with her little buddy mouse! They're gonna go pwn some noobs. Or something like that XD I had a lot of fun with this character, altho I wasn't too sure if I should have drawn her so...happy...but I couldn't really draw any other expression on her when her little mousey was just so happy! So I figured, because smiling is contagious, she should be smiling too!

This was a lot of fun to do, and a nice challenge as well too. I don't know very much about the races in WOW, other then what my boyfriend had told me, so I wasn't sure how "dead" I should have made her. So I kinda made her look healthy and stuff, but used the same idea that I did with that picture I did for 's drawing, of her characters as zombies. Her outfit was a lot of fun to draw as well too, altho I was getting frustrated with the colouring because it wasn't turning out how I wanted ARGH! The original looks a lot better, I think, since the scanner kinda dulled some of the colours. Scanning ruining my pictures? That, like, TOTALLY NEVER HAPPENS EH???



Anyway, this was the first picture I decided to do something different with my inking. I love to read critiques and comments about my pictures, and one thing that a number of you suggested was to try thicker, bolder lines around the face area. In the past, I was scared to do this because my face details are a lot smaller then my characters other things (whatever that means.), and also because my inking is an evil spawn from hell that pretty much ruins everything in its path, and for me, if I screw up inking a characters face, the whole picture is totally, totally, TOTALLY ruined and then I freak out and then throw my art supplies around and bitch for a few centuries, and then post the messed up picture on DeviantART so that I can continue to bitch about it. Well I decided... okay. Lets be brave, Jess, and I ventured into unchartered lands and stuff. I was actually surprised with the results, and how, when I use the right pens and not my crappy pens that ruin everything (which, really, is all my pens, to be honest, altho sometimes they behave.) it turned out much nicer then if I never did anything with the faces. Now this of course, was an experiment and I have been working on it in a few of my newer drawings, but I actually like the results a LOT more and makes the faces and stuff stand out and things!

But, of course, my inking is still incredibly crappy and will one day try and ink its crap all over the entire world. But anyway.

For the background I wanted something like, you know, creepy, and like, woodsy and stuff. And the best I could come up with is a bunch of tree trunks and then a purpley sky. *rolls eyes* I wanted to do something much better for the background, altho I do still like this. I was trying to go through looking at pictures of the Undead characters land in WoW but I couldn't find anything that was of any good reference. The background looks a lot better in the original, for some reason my scanner really dulled it, and there was this.. little...white thing... that was stuck in my scanner when I was scanning the picture, hence that mysterious blob you see there on one of the trees. I thought I'd make the background a little more exciting by, rather then just drawing a rectangle or something, I would just go all wierd with the square and things. So now it's all...like...WHEE! (whatever that is supposed to mean. I tend to use WHEE! when I don't know what word to use to describe things. I think I should get a thesaurus for my birthday. They should give me all kinds of different words for WHEE!) I still like how this one came out tho! Some little things here and there that I wish I did differently but overall I'm pretty satisfied with this!

Damn. When I die, I hope I go to Azaroth. I'd love to look as hot as her when I die too. 0.0
