Every once in a while, I'm completely on a role with artwork where I manage to excite myself over stupid things I do with my artwork that make it look less corny and cheesy.

I felt like doodling Calico, since she's fun and has red hair (yes, that is very intriguing to me and makes me want to draw her. Because hair is the sheezam.) I started to doodle up this idea after flipping through a Vogue magazine. I wanted to fiddle around with her hairstyle, because in previous pictures I did of Cali, I typically gave her the same hair style, while other characters such as Vivian and Kriss, got the honour to have something more exciting done with thier hair. This perhaps, made Calico jealous and thus, she ordered that I draw her all interesting like.

So, I remembered a time when a lot of girls had this thing where they moused up thier bangs, and they had like this...this...Fonz Danny Zucco from Grease I went through a wind tunnel Jess in the morning hair style going on. I actually thought (and still do) think it looked kind of stupid, but for some reason I felt compelled to draw it. I really don't know why. I honestly don't.

So I thought I'd give it a shot on Calico, and then I just ended up coming up with this. I then started to draw this.. like button up dress thing, which then ended up being kinda a revamp inspired-by-Agent-Scarlet sorta thing, and that's what I came up with

Hence the title, of "Calico Does Scarlet" I thought it would be pretty fun to kinda do an outfit of one of my characters in an outfit that was inspired by their agent designs that I've created I don't really think that her outfit was originally supposed to be inspired by Scarlets, but as the drawing started to come through it just ended up that way

I didn't really know what to do with her pose, hence why her hand is like..glued to her hair. Probably because of all that hair gel and mousse and stuff. Mac has that problem sometimes too.

I wasn't really too sure what I was going to do with the background. But I googled up some inspirations, and eventually came up with this design. I've never done a gazebo before, so I thought, instead of putting stupid trees in the background like I would probably have if I didn't put the gazebo, I well.. put the gazebo in there. Then I fiddled around with the background and thought her being in a park would be a good idea, since parks are always fun and lively and things. (And have trees, so that way I can draw trees. TREEEEEEEEEEESssSSSss!!! *foams at the mouth* )

Then I had this... idea for the background. Previously, I always bitched about how my backgrounds looked all..inflatable and things. Which in turn, I thought made them look less realistic and kinda crappy. So then.. I had this idea where I would ink the background, but only slightly, so that you could tell what all the things are without taking attention away from the character. At first I was thinking, "Oh god, what am I thinking???" but then as the picture started to come together, I really liked how it came out!

I did this one on a larger peice of bristol, which wouldn't all fit in my scanner, so where the picture ends here, it actually does end and the picture actually ends with a border and the rest of her legs and things. The bristol has a rough texture so colouring on it was a little hard, but I think in the end this one came out nicely

I....*stares...* I actually think the inking is somewhat good here. I just adore the linework on her hair...but...OF COURSE...my scanner has this problem with Calico and the fact that she's orange and it goes haywire and doesn't know HOW TO HANDLE IT!! So it scans her all crappy, and then well...yeah. Basically my scanner ruined this one because it sucks.

My scanner and I will have it out one day. Perhaps even right here, right now. *puts on boxing gloves*

But either way, I really like how this one came out, and it's one of my favourite drawings thus far I really would love to see what her shoes look like with this outfit... *SQUEEE!!!*
