Oh look Jess attempts to draw more fanart.

LETS LAUGH BECAUSE THATS HILARIOUS! :iconlololplz:

Anyway. Just felt like doing some more fanart again for Monster High since their characters are brilliant, and I wanted to try my hand at another character. So... I thought I'd try to draw Draculaura, since she's one of the first ones so hey, why not! :icondurrhurrplz:

I actually drew Draculaura before, but I didn't like the picture all that much, despite having actually inked it. But as the months went on I stopped liking it and thought I'd redraw her again. This is pretty much the story of like, every fanart I draw, seriously. :iconnotimpressedplz: It's kinda annoying. I wish I could just draw fanart without constantly comparing my art to other peoples UGH. So anyway. More recently, I decided to redraw my Draculaura with a slightly more exciting  pose (okay, so it's not that exciting....)!

So, after not really knowing what else to draw, one day I just decided I'd redraw Draculaura and hope she would turn out better. So this is essentially the end result.

I really liked how this one came out at the time (story of my life, it seems....) so I thought I'd finish it. Not necessarily the pose that I had wanted but I think it came out okay in the end. I always pictured Draculaura being a little more chubby, even tho in the cartoons and the doll she's not. I just liked the idea of her being short and a little more heavier set than her friends, or at the very least a bit of a different body type anyway. I attempted to show that but, like, since I didn't draw a whole body shot of her well...you can't really tell can you? :iconnotveryimpressedplz: But I tried to give her a bit of a chubbier face anyway I guess. I actually do like the way she came out in the end, not the greatest but in the end she came out pretty okay! :D

I didn't want to copy Draculaura's outfit exactly because for the most part, when I draw fanart, I like to draw characters in different outfits (depending on the character tho, sometimes it just doesn't work, but for Monster High characters I like to give them different outfits). So, for her outfit here I basically drew inspiration from her classic outfit, the very first one that she ever had in doll form, the one that all my Monster High Ghoulies will be familiar with, and just changed it a little bit. I liked the idea of a vest over a button up shirt, so I gave her a pink vest thing like she usually has, and then a white shirt. I basically just wanted to keep her colour combo of black, white and pink. If you can't tell, she is supposed to be wearing pants, and theres a reason for that.

See, it actually kinda secretly pisses me off that a lot of Monster High characters, 9 times out of ten, WEAR SKIRTS OR DRESSES. Like, really, it really, really, really does. With the exception of a few, most of the female characters in Monster High are always wearing freakin' dresses and skirts and DASFWEFADSFASfdfs like DAMMIT just give them jeans or something UGH!! I dunno why, it just kinda makes me irritated sometimes. I mean don't get me wrong, I LOVE the characters designs, I really, really, REALLY do, but it would be nice if they were wearing more pants or shorts or something. I dunno, maybe there are more pants out there and I just haven't noticed. SO. Because of this, I gave Draculaura some pants. I know you can't see them really, but THEY ARE PANTS, pockets and all! :iconiloveitplz:

Anyway. So yes, she has pants. Go Jess!

I was a little annoyed trying to figure out what colour to colour her. My pink coloured pencil is TOO pink, but her skin is kinda... a really light pink. So, I just blended some colours together to get the shade that I wanted. At this moment I believe I just took a pink coloured pencil, and just lightly coloured with it and then took a white coloured pencil and went over it. I think that's how I did it. I really have no idea at this moment to be honest. It's been a while. :icontardnessplz:

As per usual the background was done with watercolours... I honestly don't like how it came out all that much. The colours weren't blending how I liked them and the colours that I chose didn't...turn out how I wanted either. I wanted something really bright and it just ended up being kinda dull and boring. :iconnotimpressedplz: Ah well. I guess it's okay because it doesn't clash that much with Draculaura herself in this so...Yes.

I admit her hair was pretty fun to do! I was excited to draw her hair! While Monster High characters are pretty liberal with thier hairstyles, and by that I mean they don't always have the same hairstyle all the time, I tend to like Draculaura's pigtail design the best, it's just so cute! And, I thought I'd have fun drawing it, and since I kinda wanted to stay somewhat true to her very first Draculaura doll, I decided to go with that hairstyle. The first time around I drew it (the picture that you guys probably will never see) it looked pretty terrible, but this time around I think it came out better :icondurrhurrplz: Her hair was fun to draw! Again, love Monster High characters with thier two toned hair, and Draculaura is no exception. She combines two of my favourites - black and pink, so...I was super happy to be able to colour that! Altho, it's always a little challenging to colour with black sometimes because I'm always worried the black will blend too much.... I always colour with it first and then add the lighter colour later. In Draculaura's case I think it came out fine altho the original pink that I used didn't match the actual pink of Dracu's hair so I darkened the pink parts of her hair to make it look more like the actual hair colour :D It's fun to do two toned hair, I love figuring out how I'm going to make it work! :iconhurrhurrplz: I just love blending colours so much I CAN'T EVEN! :excited:

Anyway, so in general I really like how she came out, altho I think her head came out too small. I noticed this when I first drew the picture, but I liked how her face came out and in general how everything else came out, but I did fixed it and it looked okay, but now that I look at it again her head still kinda looks too small ARDFDASGSD I seriously have no idea why I keep drawing characters heads so small it's really annoying. :iconlll-plz: But anyway, I still really like her face anyway, and I think I just made her shoulders too big. If I didn't make her shoulders, it would have been better I think. Looking at it now, I think it's really her shoulder on the left hand side that's the problem. Her hand is also too big I think so that doesn't help the whole small head thing either.

 Anyway. I tried. :iconhurrhurrplz:

Of course, the scan of this is utter crap. I seriously don't even have to explain this do I, because you guys are all well aware that my scanner is a pile of donkey shit covered in dog shit. :iconmadlynotimpressedplz: I mean honestly, it's not that bad compared to every other picture in my gallery, but it's still pretty bad. The scanner really dulled a lot of the colours like it always does. But yeah, not really THAT bad, but... the scan is still pretty bad.

So yes, just felt like drawing more Monster High art because it's fun. :iconexcitedflirtplz: I had fun drawing Draculaura but I think a better drawing of her is in order!

I feel so ashamed, you guys, I DON'T EVEN HAVE A DRACULAURA DOLL YET. :iconcryingplz: My favourite Dracu doll so far is the Art Class one and I've been meaning to pick her up but I'm too poor BECAUSE I KEEP BUYING DOLLS.

:iconimseriousplz:

Anyhoo, just a drawing of Draculaura I felt like doing! :D

Draculaura here is © to Mattel :D

Update: At the time of writing this, I didn't have a Dracu doll... I've just recently purchased Art Class Draculaura YAY! :iconkermityayplz:
