Hey Ricky

....OKAY EVERYBODY! 1....2....3....GO!

OH RICKY, YOU'RE SO FINE, YOU'RE SO FINE YOU BLOW MY MIND, HEY RICKY! HEY RICKY!

*someone slaps me before I can continue my latest hit, "Hey Ricky", which is really just a terribly sung version of "Hey Mickey".

Am I the only one, who, as a child, when listening to that song, I actually thought it was about Mickey Mouse?

*crickets chirp* ....I'll take that as a yes.

Anyway. So. The thing is, when I was doing some art trades, I realized something. Something irritating. Now, when you are art trading, you typically will exchange character info with the other person, and usually this means you will offer the other party a reference picture or two or three or whatever of your character you would like them to draw for reference. I then realized that I hardly had ANY good pictures of my characters, by themselves, to use for references. Any pictures I DID have were TERRIBLE AND OLD AND MAKE ME CRY. So I decided to at least start posting some single pictures of my characters, and also work on some proper references of my characters so that I won't run into this problem so often. The thing is, when I do draw reference pictures, it takes me a few months to go back to them, and by that time I think they look like crap so I never finish them. And I have a carrot piece stuck in my throat and it's really freakin' annoying and it won't go down. So if I stop randomly typing this, you will know that I choked on a piece of carrot, and it killed me.

And I also just realized, that in French, "Caution Hot Beverage" is "Attention Breuvage Chaud". I find that amusing because the first letters in each word, Attention Breuvage Chaud, is...A B C. DURRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!! I'm easily amused.

Anyway.

So. I drew this picture of Ricky quite a while ago, but I still like it, so I thought I'd actually post it. I'm sure in time, it will also become terrible and ugly and I won't want to use it for reference use, but really I never drew it as a reference picture in the first place. I just felt like drawing him one day, and it came out half decent, so I thought I'd finish him. Honestly, the main reason why I like it was because I thought his pose was kinda cute. He's all like WHATEVA IMMA JUST CHILLIN' YO! or something. He just looks relaxed and stuff. He really is quite a passive guy and rarely gets mad, except, you know, when Clarice is irritating him, and usually at that point he just tunes her out and plays a song or something in his head while she's yelling. And SERIOUSLY it smells like blueberries EVERYWHERE in this apartment. I think theres a magical blueberry tree monster somewhere in here, or something. Anyway. Again, I was foolin' around with my style and making my faces look less craplike, so...I guess this was a bit of an experiment. I'm really up and down whenever I'm drawing Ricky-Rick. Sometimes I think he looks great, other times I think he looks like a pile of turdshit. In this case, I actually think he looks pretty cute. D'AAWWW. How can Clarice EVER yell at him. Don'tcha just wanna pinch those cute cheeks? AHHHH GAWSSSHHHH HE NEEDS A PLUSHIE VERSION OF HIM OR SOMETHING.

He actually isn't supposed to be walking, I think he's just standing with his other foot behind him, but it does kinda look like he's walking. BUT NOT JUST WALKING. HE'S STRUTTIN'. Aside from a few anatomical errors, I think he came out decently. Again, his Hulk arms and stuff can be really hard to draw but for the most part I think they came out fine. For whatever reason, I really like the colours of his clothes. I don't know why, I just do. I always seem to colour Ricky's clothing blue or blue colours, so I guess the tanny brown colour is nice.

But we all know that we don't care about anything in this picture but....HIS TAIL. AHHHH MAHHH GAWWWWWWWWWWWWWDDDDDD RICKY'S TAILLLLLL!!!!!!!! It's just...it's just...IT'S JUST SO NYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! It's particularly big and floofy here for some reason! I really have fun drawing tails so....sometimes I go overboard and draw them too big. I honestly don't know if my characters tails would be that long in real life, but, you know, because Ricky's tail is like, a way he attracts girls, and stuff, well.. I guess it's extra big. Well, okay, I suppose Ricky likes to think that he has another part of his anatomy that is extra big and attracts females more but, whatever. We all know girls bang Ricky for that tail.

(For the record, no, Ricky doesn't use his tail to attract mates, I'm just saying. It's truly a magical, fluffy tail of adorableness.) Perhaps one day, I will make a Rickytail for myself once I learn how to sew properly. And I shall wear it. FOREVER.

Anyway, the background was done with watercolour pencils this time, and look! We're back to the random, misshapen bubbles again! I'm not too sure why I used so many...pinks there. I was a little iffy about using pink in a picture of Ricky because he's a real mans-man and stuff and is all POWERTOOLS CARS SPORTS GRARRRRRRRARRRRRR!! but... I actually like it. I did that because I thought blue would be a little boring, so I went with pinkys and purpleys. There is some blue in there but you can't really tell.

I like the shadow here. My shadows lately look like crap. What happened? Why can't I colour shadows anymore??? Anyway. And I like his pants too. I love drawing pants! So much fun! They look all comfortable and such. I guess he just looks comfortable. Ricky is very comfortable.

Like...like a sweater. Ricky is a comfortable, sweater like character.

Ricky: That is the by far the most stupid way to describe one of your characters, ever. I am not a sweater.

YES YOU ARE.

Anyway. One thing that we all need to understand is that my scanner completely FAILS to scan Ricky properly. It just...cannot compute him for some reason. I don't know why. Probably because my scanner is an asshole. However, compared to most scans of Ricky, this isn't half bad. It may actually pass for art. The scan is really only crappy on parts of his tail (HOW DARE MY SCANNER DO THAT.) but... I dunno. For the most part it looks fine. Well, as fine as my scanner could scan. In fact, this is probably one of my better scans. My scanner can't seem to scan pictures in like this anymore. Dammit, scanner.

BUT LOOKIT EVERYONE! LOOKIT HIS TAILLLLL!! Oh gawsh. Seriously. I think I draw Ricky just so I can draw and oogle over his tail all the time. It is just ridiculous how special his tail is. SHO FLUFFY.

I'm happy that I have a somewhat decent picture of Ricky by himself up here. He's typically always sleepin' with Amy or being yelled at by Clarice in his pictures. He likes jus' chillin' here.

So yes, just a Ricky-Rick....AND HE'S G'NNA SEX JOO UP.
