Rage Has A Practice

...When I read the title I used for this picture, the only thing I thought about was how Rage is a doctor.

And how Alex would be booking a HELL of a lot of physicals.

(And somehow, said physicals would just end up in Alex touching Rage instead of the other way around. )

But Rage isn't a doctor, and doesn't have a practice, so no physicals for him. Or Alex. Or you. Or whatever.

Anyway.

So there comes a time in every artists life where they sit down and do a bunch of sketches and drawings practicing their characters for whatever reason. I actually sketch quite a bit, but hardly ever scan in any of the sketches I do because I kinda think it's pointless to post them because they are boring (in my opinion.). But from time to time, I actually come up with some pretty good practing pictures and I think about scanning them and showing you all my progress. LOL. I make progress.

I have a ton of this manilla cardstock paper that I doubt I would ever use for coloured drawings but I thought I'd start doing some of my doodlings on them since, yes, doodles. As you may or may not know, I've been doing some adjusting with my artwork and just working out things that have been bugging me. I've been studying a lot recently and just picking up some pointers here and there. Normally I get frustrated when I do these sorts of things, but I've actually been having a lot of fun over the last couple of weeks. So I decided to do some practice sketching of my characters, mainly right now my guy characters, because. Just because. So first up, I decided to draw Rage, because as you may or may not know, for whatever reason, when I'm drawing my characters, I tend to draw them in this order: Rage, Mac, Ajax, Ricky - which was the order in which they were created. It's both kinda cool, and kinda creepy at the same time. Mac, however, was being a penisbutt and looked terrible (which is weird, because usually he turns out in pictures) so you will never see his drawing. Because it's terrible. Terrible like a scanner.

So anyway. Here we have some practice sketching of Rage-ness. I started first with a full bodied picture of said character, and then did a bunch of face drawings and stuff. I actually did the face drawings really fast but the full bodied one, I actually paid slightly more attention to it. Not as much attention as Alex, however, pays to Rage body (hers is almost in a very, very, VERY creepy way. Good thing Rage is too stupid to realize she's always creepin' on him.).

So there Rage stands LIKE A BOSS in a typical Jess Guy Character pose 'cept he's doing...THE DOUBLE HANDS IN THE POCKETS pose, as opposed to the SINGLE HAND IN POCKET pose. The sketch there is pretty much how my drawings look before I ink them, altho the lines might not be as thick, and not as clean. My drawings kinda look messy and stuff. And if you are asking, yes, I always draw my characters tails half assed in all my drawings.

His ears remind me of pizza. Rage has pizza ears. AND NO ALEX THAT DOESN'T MEAN YOU CAN EAT RAGE. But he's cute anyway. Him and his pizza ears. COWABUNGA, DUDE!

(Because, like, the Ninja Turtles like pizza and stuff......)

The face sketches aren't really exciting, and they were done pretty quickly.... You can always tell which one I did first, because the one I did first usually looks the stupidest/crappiest/lamest/w-t-fest). Can you tell? Of course you can tell, because you all know the first one I did was the one at the very top. I mean that's the biggest derp face I've ever seen, EVER. That one is all wrong. The other ones are okay, altho I'm still questionable about the side view one. It looks like he's....eating...something..but not really. I don't know. What are you doing thar, Rage?

Part of me might just like, trace that full bodied picture and finish it, because I really like how that one came out. It's my own drawing, so I guess it's okay to like, totally rip off my own art, right? I just love how relaxed he came out. And for the record, that wierd circle thing you see on Rage's crotch is supposed.. um...yes, technically supposed to be his buldge. You see, when I draw characters, I draw them naked, and when I draw guys, I've resorted to drawing this Ken-doll-like buldge on thier crotch. It really doesn't serve any purpose, other than to tell me where I should start and finish drawing thier pants and stuff. I certainly can't be the only artist here who draws buldges on their guy characters before adding their clothes....Right? Why I am spending so much time talking about Rage's buldge, I will never know...

Alex: ....I talk about it on a daily-hourly basis....

I'm sure you do.

Anyway. So I'll have a couple more of these done/posted. I don't know how interested you guys are in seeing my cruddy sketches, but I thought I'd show you my progress anyway. I don't particularly like to post unfinished drawings but...anyway. I just thought this one came out pretty decent so YAY! I might move it to scraps later. Or I might have him chillin' in my usual gallery. I haven't decided yet.

You're not allowed to be alone with Rage, Alex. In fact, he should probably take out a restraining order on you.

Anyway, just some practice drawings, Rage being my victim. Practice fun is fun
