Yes, thats right everyone.
Using his masterful powers of the brain, and sheer nerdery by uttering epic quotes from his favourite movies and Star Trek episodes, Trekker has the ability to defy gravity and float randomly in the air, inside a wavy box.
Well, actually, the real reason why he is floating on the air is because Jess was just too damned lazy or incompetent to draw him sitting on something, like a chair, or a stump, or The Starship Enterprise, or something like that.
But to be fair, he could be sitting on a small stool thing that is smaller then the circumferance of his ass (because, unlike most of my characters, I haven't given him my titanic ass.).
Anyway, because I'm all excited to be drawing new and exciting poses, I thought I'd draw Trekker, new and improved Jess style - sitting and staring at nothing. It's totally different then my previous, popular 2008 pose of standing around and staring at nothing!
So anyway, here is Trekker, probably babbling on about something nerdy like Star Trek or using a bunch of scientificy terms that Ryerson will soon translate for his friends so that they understand what Trekker is trying to say (because something as simple as "you're stupid" or "I'm tired", when described by Trekker, is usually long winded and he uses large words that no one really understands). Just wanted to draw Trekker. I also think this pose was a little more challenging because it was supposed to be more of a front view picture, and, to be honest, I didn't actually cut off his legs in this picture becasue I couldn't draw them right (which is usually what I always do), I just simply wanted a "larger" portrait picture of him, if that makes any sense. I like drawing characters squished in thier background, for some reason. Probably because I'm mean to my characters and its a way to torture them.
Anyway, so here is Trekker. I had fun designing his outfit, altho I feel like he should have a pocket protector somewhere. He could have one, somewhere behind his hand. I really liked this picture when I first finished it (as I usually do with most of my pictures, and then I suddenly start nitpicking at everything.), but I now see that he's picked up football, since his shoulders are gigantic. And his arm, mainly the one that is on your left, seriously should have been closer to his body. He looks...very...boxy...or something. And his shirt looks really bunch like he's wearing too many layers. His face was actually meant to be facing forward, but then I drew his nose more to the right, so either he got his face bashed and his nose is now dented (I guess Trekker DID take up football. Probably for scientific purposes, just like everything else he takes up.). God, that actually annoys me to no end now. And, I think the thigh to the left (our left, I guess I should say) also appears higher then his other thigh.
So, really, theres tons to bitch about with this one, and yet I still like it. Sorta like my relationship with onion rings. I like them, but I hate onions. LOLWUT?
Anyway, the background, incase you haven't guessed from past Jessifications, was done with markers, and water. I just took some colours and hoped for the best. I think it came out okay, but the colours didn't blend too well. I didn't put enough dots, or something, because the water didn't blend them like I had wanted them to. Well, the blues did, but the purple just looks off. As for the border, I just drew a random blob because these days my thing is to draw flowy blobs around my characters. But thats good tho, it works out for Trekker because he likes amorphous blobs. Makes for some good study sciencey fun times. Infact, he's probably studying it right now.
Anyway, aside from all that, I was of course working on clothing folds. I think it came out alright. This one is a few months old now, not super old, mebbe like three or two or something.
Did I also mention it scanned miserably? Seriously. Just when I thought my scanner officially hated Mac, I scan this picture and I'm all like WTF WTF WTF! The border looks miserable, and the black on his arms looks really bad too. If only there was a way to like, shove my pictures on my monitor, and they magically appear on my desktop.
*tries it, just in case.......*
No? Dammit. *kicks and beats scanner* JUST KNOW SCANNER THAT THIS HURTS ME MORE THEN IT HURTS YOUUUU!
Anyway, just a random, fun picture of Trekker for fun nerdy times. Nerds make everything better, don't they? YES. YES THEY DO.
Anyhoo, Trekker here is © Jess Ratte
